Support Program For
Soybeans Is Extended
The county ASC office has been
advised that the 1956 Crop Price
Support Program has been extend
ed to cover spybeans grading lower
than No. 4 if such grade has been
given because the total damage ex
ceeds 8. per cent, according to H.
O. West, Chowan County ASC of
fice manager. This change in the
program was made necessary be
cause of extensive damage to soy-,
beans in the field brought about by
excessive rainfall in recent weeks.
Soybeans must grade No. 4 or
better except for damage but must
not contain in excess of 14 per cent
moisture. A maximum of 3 per
cent heat damage is permitted.
The support rate for these soy
beans will be discounted on the ba
sis of total damage.
Farmers desiring additional in
formation on the Soybean Price
Support Program should contact
the county ASC office, Mr. West
said.
