Edenton, North Carolina January 8,1957. .« -I RESOLUTION TO THE CHOWAN COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS FROM THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TO WN OF EDENTON. AS ADOPTED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL ON JANUARY 8,1957: BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Councilmen that the County Board of Elections of the County of Chowan, North Carolina, be ordered to call an election to determine whether or not the * proposd territory described below shall be annexed to the Town of Edenton. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this election be conducted in the territory proposed to be annexed only and that the County Board of Elections shall proceed to Hold an election on the proposed annexation within sixty days after receiving such an older from this Board of Councilmen. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Board of Elec tions follow the provisions of the General Statutes, Chapters 160-447, 448, and 449, in that (a) it publish its resolution in news paper in the County of Chowan once a week for thirty days pri or to the opening of the registration books; (b) Provide for special registration of voters in the territory proposed to be an nexed; (c) designate the precincts and voting places for the election; (d) name the registrars and judges of the election; (e) canvass the returns and declare the results of such election; and certify the same to the Town Board of Councilmen; and (f) make all other necessary provisions for the holding and con ducting of such election. Territory proposed to be annexed: Beginning at an iron post on the Northern edge of the right-of-way of U. S. Highway No. 17, a corner of the lands of J. H. Morgan Estate and property of E. W. Spires, and running thence from said iron post South 4 deg. West 60 feet to an iron post on a southern edge of said right-of-way; thence South 4 deg. West 945 feet to a stake, a corner of the said Morgan property and that of Mrs. L. A. Pat terson; thence South 89 deg. 45 min. East 2.561 feet along the said Patterson line to a marked cypress at the side of Pembroke Creek; thence Eastwardl.v 470 feet, more or less, to the center of said Pembroke Creek; thenceSoutheastwardly along the cen ter of said Creek 575 feet, more or less, thence continuing along the center of said Creek Northeastwardly 1.100 feet more or less, and 1.060 feet, more or less; thence continuing along the center of Filbert’s Creek northwardly 1,290 feet, more or less, to the Northern edge of the right-of-way of said U. S. Highway No. 17; thence along the Northern edge of said right-of-way Westwardly to the center of a ditch, corner of the Bosweli -1 widdy properties; thence along the said Boswell-Twiddy line ditch North 22 deg. 30 min. East 308.7 feet; thence North 88 deg. 30 min. East 139 feet; thence North 64 deg. 30 min. East 124 feet; thence South 59 deg. East 112.6 feet; thence South 70 deg. 45 min. East 620 feet to the center of Filbert’s Creek; thence Northwardly along the center of said Filbert’s Creek its vari ous courses 430 feet; more or less, 760 feet, more or less, and 550 feet, more or less, to conjunction with the center of another creek; thence North 10 deg. 30min.. West 251 feet to a stake in the line of E. L. Ward; thence along the Ward line, center of creek or swamp, North 48 deg. 30 min. West 756 feet to a stake at the line of Mrs. R. L. Boyce; thence along the said Boyce line South 30 deg. 40 min. West 1.402 feet to the Northeastern edge of the right-of-way of West Albemarle Street; thence the same course 60 feet across the said right-of way and continuing the same course along the D.
