Byrum received his degree in business administra tion and was commissioned an Ensign in the U. S. Navy. Members of. the Edenton Woman’s Club ed and filled the bags and pre pared the labels. The cradles were designed and* made by Cecil Fry, Hubert Willi ford, Nick George an’d Jimmy Earnhardt. Material for the cra dles was donated by the Edenton Veneer Mill. Mrs. Earnhardt do nated and arranged the miniature pine cone buttonaires. Two special packages repre senting Edenton’s historical back ground were prepared by Mrs. Earnhardt and presented to Vice President Richard Nixon as gifts for his two daughters. The Vice- President was principal speaker at the convention. Miss Kathryn Brown, delegate from the Edenton Women’s Club, assisted Mrs. Earnhardt at the Western States Conference Ban quet.
