Revival At Whiteville
Will Begin August 4th
The Rev. J. Paul Holoman, pas
tor of the Whiteville Grove Bap
tist Church in Perquimans Coun
ty, announces that revival ser
vices will be held yi his church
beginning Sunday morning, Au
gust 4, at 11 o’clock and will con-1
tinue each night through Satur
day, August 10.
The visiting preach will be the

speed limit will no doubt be
adopted at the next regular meet
ing of Town Council Tuesday
night, August 13.
Another traffic problem was al
so aired at the meeting. This had
to do with heavy trucks using
Granville Street from Route 32 to
Queen Street. The complaint was
registered that the trucks cause
| vibration in some of the houses
| along the street and further that
the State does not maintain this
street as it does Broad and Queen
Streets, so that it was the opinion
of some of the Councilmen that
Edenton is penalized by the heavy
trucks using a city-maintained
street instead of the route which
i is maintained by the State.
\ At a previous meeting, by a
| split vote, the Councilmen voted
to purchase the building now used
by Spedic Food Products, located
on town property. The building
is to be sold by the Albemarle
Peanut Company and the Spedic
concern has agreed to lease it at
a rate which is expected to amor
tize the investment in about 10
years. Two of the Councilmen
J. Clarence Leary and John
Mitchener, abstained from voting
on the issue. George Alma By
rum and Luther Parks voted
against the proposal. Raleigh
Hollowell and J. Edwin Bufflap
voted in favor of the motion, so
that it was a tie vote, which was
broken by Mayor Kehayes, who
voted to purchase the building at
a cost of $5,000.
At Friday night’s meeting a mo
tion was made to table the pro
posal, but this motion was defeat-
