CHOWAN CLUB MEETS
Chowan club women were giv
en a demonstration on “Simple
Courtesies When Entertaining At
Regular Meetings” by Mrs. E. N.
Elliott.
Some of these pointers were:
First of all greet guests at door;
make them feel at home; don’t
begin by apologizing about the
house, your appearance, etc. As
one man said, “Dqp’t apologize,
your ■ friends don’t need it and
your enemies don’t believe it.”
See that everyone knows each
other and has a good time; when
guests leave they should bid, the
hostess goodbye and say they had
a good time; don’t take time for
a long conversation, remember
other people want to say goodbye,
too.
In serving: Simple, friendly
meals or refreshments are more
enjoyable than one’s consuming
time, elaborate, and a burden to
us—“ Bread and butter served joy
ful is better than the finest tur
key dinner which wears you out.”
Special foods, seasonal decora
tions will create a festive air
which all will enjoy whether it’s
just the family or company for
any occasion.
