Mrs. Normon Cordon of Chap el Hill, wife of the one-time Met ropolitan Opera star, was elect ed State Vice Regent and Mrs. Noah Burfoot of Elizabeth City corresponding secretary. The following attended the con ference as delegates: Mrs. Wood • Privott, Regent, Mrs. Lloyd Grif fin and Mrs. Richard P. Baer. Al so chapter members attending were Mrs. R. P. Badham, Mrs. David Holton, Mrs. J. L. Pettus and Mrs. J. M. Jones. Miss Frances Holton represented the chapter as a page. An especially interesting fea ture of the conference was a tea on Wednesday afternoon at the executive mansion given by Mrs. Luther Hodges. Here on display was a replica of the Edenton Tea Party of October 25, 1774. Mrs. Lloyd Griffin, a member of the Edenton Tea Party, DAR, recreat ed the Edenton Tea Party at the mansion with twenty dolls dress ed in authentic costumes (these ladies were leaving the home of Elizabeth Wing resolving to drink no more pernicious tea until the English tax had been removed). Mrs. Griffin’s daughter, Mrs. Clyde Douglas 11, a page at this conference and a member of the Junior Committee Caswell, Nash Chapter, Raleigh, served authen tic Tea Party cookies and gave visitors a history of the tea party. Holmes, Jr., who was elected State Regent at the DAR Convention in Raleigh, has returned to her home here.
