Chowan Junior-
Senior Banquet
Very Successful
The Junior - Senior banquet
which was held in the Chowan
High School gymnasium on
April 11 under the sponsorship
of Mrs. Loraine H. Rogerson ex
celled everyone’s highest expec
tation.
The festivities officially be
gan as R. H. Copeland, princi
pal, delivered the invocation, af
ter which Joe Hollowell, presi
dent of the junior class, gave the
welcome and Paul Blanchard,
, president of the senior class,
I delivered the response. Every
[one then settled down to enjoy
| the entertainment which was
presented by several highly
rated freshmen under the direc
tion of Miss Cecilia Willoughby.
The next part on the program
was what everyone had been
waiting for, that being a full
course dinner, which included
chicken salad, ham biscuits, po
tato chips, deviled eggs, spiced
crab apples, saltines, iced tea
and brownie a la mode. Every
one then relaxed while more en
tertailnment was presented, af
ter which everyone took full ad
vantage of the music of the
juke box and began to dance.
The banquet could nave very
easily served as a fashion show,
for the young ladies and gentle
men as well as the faculty mem
bers were surely dressed in their
best clothes. In fact, it was
very hard to distinguish the fac
ulty members from the students.
The junior class was honored
to have as guests the entire fac
ulty, including W. J. Taylor,
j superintendent of the county
| schools.
