Meets September 3 A meeting of the stockholders \ of the Edenton Development 1 Corporation called for Tuesday! night to discuss the purchase of j an industrial site was adjourned : for lack of a quorum. Joe Con ger, Jr., president, said no of ficial action could be taken on the matter, although the senti ment of those present favored buying a site. Conger strongly urged all stockholders to be present at the adjourned meeting scheduled for next Wednesday, September 3,1 at 8 P. M. in the Chowan Coun-, ty Court House. Stockholders unable to attend the meeting are requested to give their proxies to one' who will ife present. Conger pointed out that ob taining a suitable industrial site owned by the Development Cor poration will be a great step to ward attracting industry to Ed' nton. He stressed the im portance of every stockholder being present Wednesday night or delegating voting authority to his representative. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET SEPTEMBER 3 Chowan County Commissioners will hold their September meeting Wednesday mornng, September 3 at 10 o’clock. The meeting was postponed from the first Monday due to the observance of Labor Day. Demand Is Good For Feeder Hogs The demand for feeder pigs is the greatest it has been in this , area for several years, according to Robert S. Marsh, assistant i county agent. A feeder pig sale ] was planned on September 8 for j Bertie, Chowan and Martin coun j ties. Several Chowan County i farmers were asked about furn ! ishing pigs for this sale. Not only were there no feeder pigs for sale in Chowan County, but all the farmers approached asked the as sistant agent where they could buy high quality feeder pigs. The prospects for a corn crop are excellent year. Most Chowan County farmers as well as farmers in adjoining counties olan to feed their corn to pigs instead of selling it as grain. Therefore, the demand for feeder pigs is very great. Jack Kelley, Extension swim specialist of State College, at tended an organizational meeting for a feeder pig sale at Windsor recently. He stated that attempts are being made in many counties to have feeder pig sales. Since 'eeder pigs are very scarce at this t! me, Mr. Kelley suggested that the number of pig sales be limit ed and that each sale have lots'. of pigs. *A large sale attracts * M o°luminuin cobinet. 14’ <£ 1 CJQ QC£ diagonal ovorall. 104 squaro incho* of *P A t-r l/ft/ U j| K rectangular picture area. Several farmers in adjoining counties have recently built specially con structed pens for feeding out feeder pigs. These farmers are not keeping many brood sows at 1 all and are depending on buying and fattening feeder pigs which will weigh from 45 to 75 pounds I each. Therefore, a farmer who keeps brood sows should be able| to produce pigs for these sales and receive a nice profit. Craft Camp At Manteo Declared To Be Best Ever! “This is the best craft camp j we have had at Manteo”, said I Miss lola Pritchard, Extension I Specialist. One hundred and ninety-one home demonstration 'eaders and agents registered for the three-day workshop at the Manteo 4-H Camp.
