HoLowell and Mjss Ruth Jackson Stokely, daughter of Mrs. William Stokely. Awards Feature Class Night Event Class Night held Thursday night was a very delightful af fair which was featured by a skit “Around the World,” depict ing part of a world tour in 2059 by a group of tourists sightseeing in Paris. During the program various awards were presented which went to the following: Rotary Cup for outstanding scholarship achievement, extra curricular activities and qualities | of leadership went to John Mi'ch ener 111. It was presented by Dr. Ed Bond, president of the Ro tary Club. Arion Award for band was presented to Brenda Mooney by Dr. Walter O’Berry. Business and Professional Award for achievement in com merc'al studies went to Rita Wright, and was presented by Mrs. Warren Twiddy. Charles Ronald Perry won the senior bus driver’s award, Which was presented by Dr. Walter O’Berry. Anna Elizabeth Williams was winner of the Chowan Hospital Auxiliary scholarship and was presented by Mrs. J. W. Davis, president of the Auxiliary. The DAR Citizenship Award went to Jack Webb Bunch and was presented by Mrs. William Holmes, Jr. Edenton Woman’s Club -award in the field of science and mathe matics was won by Clemon El ton Bass, Jr., and was presented by Mrs. Robert J. Boyce, retiring president. The Parent-Teacher Associa tion scholarship was presented to Peggy Joyce Elliott oy Haywood Bunch, PTA president. The valedictorian medal was, presented to Janet Marie Bunch and the salutatorion medal went to M. A. Hughes. Jr., being pie sented by Principal Gerald James. Quill and Scroll awards went to Mary Araminta Hobbs and j Gloria Beth Tolley, editors of the school annual and The Spot light, respectively. Carolyn White Perkins won the award for creative writing. The oanf qr t h Foundation awards for qualities of leader ship went to Gloria Beth Tolley and Clemon Elton Bass. Linda Spencer was presented an award for being the outstand ing girl athlete. Robert White was awarded a trophy for being the most valu able boy athlete. Ronald Perry was also award ed a SIOO scholarship for being winner in the District 2 school bus roadeo contest. Edenton ladies enrolled in a home economics class which met c'aily at the Edenton High School from 10 to 12 o'clock. A large crowd turned out to hear the Oxford Orphanag* sing ing class present its annual pro gram. John Byrum was elected cap tain of the baseball team at Campbell College. NOW ...
