demonstration on controlling j
“The Big Three.” In their dem- j
onstration they showed how to
control the three insects which
cause the most damage to home
gardens of Chowan County.
These three insects are the
Mexican bean beetle, the cut
worm and the cabbage worm.
Joe Hollowell and Kay Lowe|
entered the boys and girls 4-H
speaking contest, respectively.
Elane Hobbs gave a demonstra
tion on “Fruit and Vegetable
Use,” and Sunny White gave
one on “Economic Value of
Home Sewing.” Roy Nixon and!
Billy Bunch gave a team demon-)
stration on “Soil" and Water I
Conservation.” Scott Ober and
Johnny Winborne gave a dem
onstration on “Farm Fish Pond
Management.”
The 4-H talent contest, dress
revue and health pageant will
be held at the Chowan Com
munity Building tonight (Thurs
day) at 8 o’clock. At this time I
winners of these various con- I
tests will be chosen and as
county winners, they will rep
resent Chowan 4-H Club mem- '
bers at the district contest which
will be held at the Chocowinity
High School on Wednesday,
July 1.
The general public is cordial
ly invited to attend all of the
various 4-H activities, both at
the county and at the district,
according to Robert Marsh, as
sistant county agricultural agent.
