Attend Furniture Market Rodney Byrum and Fred C. Byrum returned Wednesday from High Point, N. C., where they attended the furniture market. <i — Week-end At Nags Head Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Leary, Jr., and Joe Conger, Jr., spent the week-end at Nags Head with Mrs. Joe Conger. Jr., and chil dren, who are spending several weeks at the beach. , Return From Camp Misses Pat Byrum, Susan .By rum, Frances Privott, Pat Bunch, Mary Thorud, Glenna Quinn and Betsy Campen returned home Sunday after spending two weeks at Camp Leach. Guests of Son Week-end visitors of their son, Milton Bass, were Mr. and Mrs. V. N. Bass of GoldSboro. At Camp Yonahlosse Miss Betsy Hardin left Tues day for Camp Yonahlosse at Blowing Rock, N. C., where she will spend six weeks. Visiting Grandfather Miss Ricky Hardin and Mas ter Richard Hardin are spend- ing three weeks with their grandfather in West Jefferson, N. C. v Returns From Norfolk Miss Sandra Boyce returned Sunday from Norfolk where she spent several days. At Long Island Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Boyce, Mrs. Hal Shore and children left Sat urday for Long Island, N. Y. Mrs. Shore and children will spend a month visiting her sis ter-in-law, Mrs. Ralph Hyde and Captain Hyde. Open House Held At Methodist Parsonage Evans-Center Hill Woman’s Society of Christian Service was co-hostess with the Rev. and Mrs. Frank Fortescue at an open house held at the Methodist par son'age Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 o’clock. Thi9 open house was for mem bers of the four churches Which comprise the Chowan Charge, Anderson, Bethany, Center Hill and Evans churches. The pur pose was for inspection of work and improvements which have recently been made to the par sonage to make it more comfort able for the pastor and his fam ily. The dining room table was beautifully arranged and cover ed with a lace tablecloth. Re freshments of lemonade, mints, nuts and several kinds of dainty cookies were served by members of the Evans-Center Hill Socie ty. Mrs. Fortescue met the guests at the door and Mrs. M. P. Whichard, president of the socie ty, directed the guests to the dining room. Other members of the society were on hand to help where needed and the afternoon was very enjoyable. Groomsmen were Robert Earl Taylor and W. D. Pearce, Jr., of Sunbury, Ronnie Temple of Elizabeth City c and Carl Webb of Gatesville. Mrs. M. Carter.of Norfolk was mistress of ceremonies. The bride’s mother wore a dress' of blue lace with match ing accessories and a corsage of red roses. The bridegroom’s mo ther wore a lace dress with matching accessories and a cor 1 sage of White roses. Little Misses Gwendolyn Rus sell and Beverly Carl Byrum of Elizabeth City, cousins of the bride, were flower girls. The ringbearer was Walter Raye Rid dick, brother of the bride. Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the social hall at the church. The hall was decorated with ivy and pine trees and the table was center ed with a bridal cake.
