Fluid~lviiik~Sales Increase In State For the first months of 1959, fluid milk sales exceeded the same period of 1958 in North Carolina. Increases ranged from a low of 1.9% in May to a high of 8.4% in January, for an average increase for the five month period of 6% over 1958. From September, 1958, through May, 1959, sales exceeded the previous year for all months. Prices paid to producers for the first five months of 1959 averages $6.00 per cwt. for milk containing 3.91% butterfat as compared with the 1958 average for the same period of $6.05 per cwt. with a butterfat test of 3.96%. On a 4% butterfat basis, the average for the first five months in 1959 was $6.05 per cwt. as compared to $6.07 in 1958. BEECH FORK CLUB MEETS The Beech Fork Home Dem onstration Club held its July | meeting m the home of Mrs. Mona Hoffler with nine mem bers and three visitors present. Mrs. Paul Ober gave a devo tional reading from the eighth chapter of Romans, followed by prayer by Mrs. Willie Saunders. A reading, “Stand Up and Look Prettv.” was given by Mrs. Cora Harrell. The August annual picnic was discussed but no definite plans were made. The demonstration “Foods and Nutrition” was ably given by Mrs. Elsworth Halsey. After the demonstration the hostess served delicious homemade ice cream and cookies. Former Edentonian Killed In Accident Friends will be interested to know that Vernon Hardison, 46, a former Edenton resident, was i killed in an accident near Hurri cane, W. Va., Tuesday of last week. Hardison, who lived at Boone, N. C., was struck on the head by a piece of rock while work ing on Route 64. He was a foreman for the Nello L. Teer Company of Durham. He is survived by his wife and two daughters; his mother, Mrs. Addie Jackspn of Washing ton, N. C., and a brother, Junior Hardison, who lives in West Virginia. C. Os C.
