- v . I News By HARRY VENTER* Assistant, County Agent ■ v Monday -night, January 25, there will be a 4-H Adult Lead ers’ meeting at the Oak Grove 'connmunily building. The time — ,7:30. Miss Aman and I have, (•contacted most of the 4-H lend-1 sers and have invited them to th's Itfieeting. Os course, we are al-j ► ways glad to have anyone else) | present, especially if thev are in- • I terested in working with young people. » I know there are many people 3 interested in working w.th young ■' people that are not doing it for jj a variety of reasons. One of the common reasons that I hear As that ‘l’m not trained to work ?i with a 4-H Club”. This is not ; a reason, it is an excuse. Most of us are not trained for teach | ing Sunday School, but we do it. * Os course, it takes a ceitain * amount of time and work, but it [ can be done. j One of, the main reasons for i: having a 4-H Leaders’ Organiza ! tion is to help train 4-H leaders. [ It gives leaders an opportunity: I to exchange ideas. You will find ? cut what programs have been f successful in other clubs and get \ ideas for your club. By attending meetings of the ; 4-H Leaders organization (usua'l • ly three or four a year), you’ll \ learn about demonstrations and i judging and the overall county • 4-H program. You will learn as t you serve, but most of your re j, ward as a 4-H Leader will be in ' terms of satisfaction in the knowledge that vou have had a ?part in helping boys and girls become better citizens and mak -1 ' n ß ,your community a better ,* place in which to live. ; At the present time there are ! Community 4-H Clubs organized Bt Oak Grove, Advance, Gliden t #nd Center Hill. 1 There is a Sen ior and Junior Club at Center Hill. Communities in which 4-H Clubs should be orgnn : zed in clude Yeopim, Rocky Heck, Cross Roads, Ryland and perhaps oth ers. There are good leaders in all of these communities if we can find them. Other leaders' are also needed in the communi ties where clubs are already or ganized. The Center Hill Junior 4-H Club, especially. Mrs. Em . mett Jones has been and is do ing a wonderful job with both of these groups, but she does need help with the junior group, especially. I’m sure that all of | our leaders would welcome addi u tional help. I After this leaders meeting, j some of you may be called on to with existing clubs and new ones. I think vou will take on this responsibility and enjoy doing it. , • I SUNDAY SCHOOL ] lfkson Coat’d, from Page 3—Section 2 an inner yearning for the deep •er experiences of faith. The . conversion of the jailer was made possible when he revealed his need by the question, “Men, ' what must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30). Faith begins when men have a desire to know God. One who; ■ endeavors to witness for Christ needs to be alert to recognize jjfchesp moments when people are ybager for spiritual certainty. Such longings are much more I frequent and universal than .we! ’ On every side there are men ■'and women who have made the -'first move toward faith in Christ.’ They are eager to be ‘sure of God. Sometimes they’ j.liide the yearning under a cloak | -•of ridicule for organized relig ion. Often they resent some of "the practices of those who make profession of their faith. w Their desire for God is genu -;ine; they await a sincere»wit ~ness $ faith which will bring '-them assurance and power. ||a3taafixi is the need ,4»ave r faith in Jesus Christ When gjlieve on the Lord Jesus and ■KjyT lie was making a mag nificent statement of the essence ■Pgtis, idlth. He failed to win the race, but piled up enough points to win the inter- I national driving championship I for 1959, j that when he challenged the’ jailer to believe in Jesus. He 1 was thinking of God as revealed in Christ, the fulfillment of the hopes of millions of men who wanted to know what God was like, and who wanted to obtain j forgiveness and peace. We arei privileged to invite men and f women to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.” Such faith is an essential part of the plan of salvation. The third step we must rec-| ognize is to become part of the Christian fellowship. Ly- [ dia’s story does not end with j the commitment of her life to! Christ. The record goes on to tell us that she and all those in her household were baptized. Then she invited Paul and Silas ho share the hospitality of her 1 home. Later records indicate! that Lydia became a Deader in | the Christian fellowship. Fellowship with other believ- ! ers is essential to faith. It is' difficult, if not impossible, to maintain the glow of assurance apart from the encouragement which we receive from others, j The fourth step is to immedi- ; ately begin to live a changed 1 life. Both Lydia and the jailer offered hospitality to Paul as the first indication of their , de sire to be different. And the fifth and final step is the com pulsion to share the faith, j When we have faith, we feel j an urgency to share the source of our joy. I In the first four articles of this series, we have explained how the disability provis.ons of the social security law affect! self-employed farmers. We have described the work' history necessary before he is considered eligible for the dis ability freeze. Then we explained how his 1 disability must be permanent and total before he is entitled i to have his earnings record fro-, zen. Also, we have shown he j must wait six months after the | completion of his work require- | ments before he can be eligible i for his first disabilily benefit payment. Now we wish to tell what the claimant must do to sup-j port his application for disabili ty benefits. He must show that he has worked and earned credi's un der social security. He should do this at the time he files h ; s claim by presenting a copy of! his income tax return and his J self-employment tax return for, 1959. Also, he should submit j proof of having paid the tax j (cancelled check, postal money | order, bank draft), for last year, j As all claims are based a medically determined disabili-1 ty, it is necessary that he pro '-Schenlei| GOLDEN^#; AGE iy " , ° or i V golden j Zj i’int f; GIN Cs? > 1 H iSchenleij i Y() j ; nisTitLti) oar «;in «»*’*» PROOF |p§§i|g^jS 0 SCHENLEY DISTILLERS CO.
