Ann's Will Again Ring The bells of St. Ann's Catholic Church will ring for the first time in several years Easter morning. The church has just had in-, stalled a Verin electric bell j ringer to operate the 400-pound • bell. The new system of opera tion will eliminate vibrations in the more than 100-year-old' building. ' The automatic bell ringer has been made possible through var ious contributions. Church bells are sounded to remind people of religion and of God. The bell, in addition! to Sunday masses, will ring the 1 Anglus morning, noon and even ing. The Anglus is rung as a reminder of the birth and nesuc rection of Christ, that all who hear may stop their activities; and pray. The history of the Anglus goes’ back to the I4th century, when it was rung to pray forthe 1 preservation of peace and since that time has become known ! as the “peace bell.” ; The restoration of the belli i completes a program of repairs land improvements, that was bo- I gun when Father Smith was the I rector of St. Ann’s. Jones Wedding Held Febru ary 21 at Macedonia Baptist Church The wedding of Miss Alice Parrish, daughter of Mr. and Mi's. Andrew A. Parrish, Sr., to Carroll Wood Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones, took; place Sunday, February 21st. 1960. at 4 o’clock at Macedonia j Baptist Church. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Hen ry V. Napier, in a setting of palms and white wedding flow ers and spiral candelabra. Nup- J tial music was rendered by Mrs.' Lynn Pery, pianist, and Miss Kay Lowe, soloist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a bal lerina length gown of chantilly i lace and nylon tulle-, with basque 'bodice, high neckline and long , sleeves tapering over the hands and a full skirt. Her elbow i length veil of illusion was at tached to a tiara embroidered with pearls. The bride’s bou quet was a semi-cascade made of two white royal orchids and white freesias. Mi's. David Bass, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a ballerina length gown of blue net with matching 1 stole and bonnet, and carried a heart bouquet of red hoses. Jane Bass, niece of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a white dress identical to that of the bride with matching veil. Neal Griffin, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. Immediately after the cere mony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Jones left for a wedding trip to Florida. For travel, the bride vvore a suit of navy blue with matching ac cessories and the orchids lifted from the bridal bouquet Mrs. Jones is a bookkeeper at the Peoples Bank & Trust Co..
