practically overwhelmed by the
applications to attend 4-H Camp
the week of June 6-12 at Ro
anoke Island. To date we have
31 applications, which is 11 over
our quota. We must now wait
until we hear from Martin and
Duplin counties to see if we can
have part of their allotment. If

Whereas, Josiah Anthony Webb
served as a member of the Cho
wan County Board of Commis
sioners for a period of thirty
seven years in an admirable and
most efficient manner and there
by contributed materially to’the
best interest of our County and
this Board; and,
Whereas, the Board of County
Commissioners officially and in
dividually, desire to express
their regret at his passing, and
to to his family their
sympathy;
Therefore, be it resolved that
this Board at its regular meeting
held on Monday, May 2, 1960.

to assure this is to abolish capi

lief—especially for the “little”

. away so as to get your applica
tion in. This is one of the
nicest 4-H Camps with cabins
that hold about 14 campers.
There is also a new swimming
pool and other facilities have
been much improved. Camp
Swannanoa is located near Black
Mountain, N. C. Now, who
wants a week in the mountains?

submitted for state competition
by July 1. They are the county

The music festival was held
at Chowan High School Sunday
afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. It
was well attended and all en
joyed some good singing.
Earl Smith of the Rocky Hock
'section held his annual com
! munity fish fry at his store Fri
day night. It was estimated
that between 500 and 600 people
attended and thoroughly enjoyed
themselves and the good fish.
