[ Senator Jordan |S Reports f ... Iran Washington Washington —1 have asked the Civil Aeronautics Board to speed up its decision on the Piedmont Local Service C .;e, which affects air service .nd proposed air service in many North Carolina cities and t >vns. Several years ago th CAB realised the need for specific planning to meet th present and future needs for air service in North Carolina i immunities which now have r.,> air service, or very little. A series of hearings was held over a year ago to explore ways and means to connect a large number of North Carolina com munities, mainly in the eastern part of the State, with existing North - South and East - Westj routes. has Been a year now since the submission of evidence was cHtupleted. but no action has been taken by the Board. The complex picture was made even more complicated recently, when Capital Air Lines filed a; petition to abandon its East- West route through North Caro lina from Norfolk to Knoxville. The filing of this petition em phasized the need for the CABi to come forth with recommenda tions in the Piedmont Local Ser-. vice Case. 1 There are many communities 1 In North Carolina which ate ex-' trench* anxious to get commer cial air line service for the first: time. In addition to these, many' cities and towns which are nowi getting grossly inadequate and) inferior service want very much j to obtain unproved service. For all practical purposes, the! entire area of our State east j of Raleigh is without air ser- i vitW and the routes which are; MR and supposedly! abving Eastern North Carolina! have never been developed fully j by the larger air lines. A great many things go into j the over-all development of North Carolina, and I firmly be lieve that improved air service SOTA- —N SUMMER COLD TAKE M— /J E* symptomatic ODD RELIEF In the Clttvy My*t(OF Show in color Sunday*.
