PAGE FOUR SECTION ONE HAYSEED *y IJNCLE SAM A BuUdoaar Revolution Whether the Southerner may be happy about it or not there is a great revolution going on in the South. Some of thei Southern landmarks are already | ‘in the past. The one horse I fanner, one crop agriculture, the sharecropper and cheap labor have already faded into the I past. One party politics, the white primary and Jim Crow car are passing. The revolution is not only reaching the customs and ways of living but it is also reach ing out and changing or remov ing many of the landmarks that are physical. The hungry bulldozer bites its way through hills and banks. It levels and fills for new roads. It converts woods and fields in to building lots. This roaring groaning bulldozer uproots an cient trees and demolishes the buildings and mansions. The roar and groan and dust' of' the bulldozer greets one on| the outskirts of almost every town and city in the South. This powerful machine with its lowered blade is a symbol of the revolution which is going on everywhere in the South. It has no regard for the obstacles which are in its way. It is heedless of its methods: it is oblivious of what it demolishes or what it builds. This bulldozer revolution is the advance agent of the city. -Jfc encroaches on rural life in order to expand city life. (!
