The region includes eight states and Mrs. Jenkins was one of the North Carolina hostesses. In turn, the people of the county should, as individuals, express their appre ciation to the owners, mana gers, and employees of industry for this contribution. “The leaders in each of the j various communities in the coun- ] ty are encouraged to designate a day during Industry Appre ciation Week, at which time the 'community may, as it deems ap propriate, recognize the contri | bution of its own industry. “Adopted this the Seventh Day of November, 1960.” In connection with the observ ance, the Commissioners will co operate with the Chamber of Commerce in seeing to it that letters of appreciation will be mailed to all industries in Cho wan County, both old and new. CARL NIXON BARBER Miss Maude Lee Corprew and Carl Nixon Barber exchanged vows Sunday, October 30, at 4 P. M., at Bethel Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of William W. Corprew of Eden ton and the late Edna Sawyer Corprew. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. J. Harry Barber and the late Mr. Barber of Winfall. The Rev. Bryan W. Holloman, Jr., performed the double ring ceremony in a setting of mixed white flowers, palms and candle light. Mrs. Frank Williams of Eliz abeth City, cousin of the bride, played the traditional wedding music and accompanied Johnny Phillips of Hertford, who sang “Because,” "I Love You Truly,” and as a benediction “The Wed ding Prayer”. | The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white taffeta and lace fashioned with Sfitied lace bodice, scalloped neckline, long sleeves ending in wedding peaks over the hands, and but toned up the back with self covered buttons. The bouffant draped pleated dome skirt of taffeta was accented by a triple pleated chapel train made of scalloped lace panels. Her sin ges-tip veil of imported illusion was arranged from a crown of ' seed pearls. She carried a prayer book topped with white fuii mums. She was attired in a ballerina length gown of tur quoise taffeta and net and wore a crown of seed pearls arranged with a matching circular veil. Her bouquet was a cascade of yellow fuji mums. The bridegroom’s brother, James Robert Barber of Nor folk, Va., was best man and ushers were Durwood Lee Bar ber. cousin of the bridegroom, and William Byrum. The candles were lighted by Bobby Corprew, cousin of the bride. Mrs. Irving Long and Mrs. Ernest Long acted as mistresses of ceremony. The bride’s step-mother was attired in a green wool ensem ble with matching accessories and a corsage of bronze mums. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy blue lace dress with matching accessories and a cor . sage of pink mums. After a short wedding trip, the couple will reside in Nor folk, Va. For travel the bride wore a Dior blue wool dress, matching velvet hat, and the corsage lifted from her prayer book. The mistresses of ceremony entertained at a rehearsal par ty Saturday night at the home of the bride’s parents, where a pink and white motif was used in the decorations.
