OKtt PAGE TWO Miss Sally Privott Selected To f Compete For SSOO Scholarship Mrs- Gordon Maddrey, presi dent of the North Carolina Fed eration of Woman’s Chibs, has chosen as her main project dur ing her two-year administration a scholarship fund to be raised by the club women themselves either by giving SI.OO per mem ber or by projects within their clubs. A fund of $20,000 is an ticipated within the two-year; fund raising effort, and the in-( terest will then be used for. several scholarships. This is considered one of the j oatstanding scholarships so girls in the State. The State Federation has been a pioneer J in inaugurating programs for the benefit of young people and the "Dollars for Scholars” pro gram is carrying out the tradi tion already set. There is a dire need for giving aid to young | women of unusual ability who, desire a college education but who are financially handicapped. The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of (1) Abil ity as evidenced by a good scho | lastic record which placed her in the upper fourth of her class; (2) Character as made known by three leading citizens in her community; (3) Citizenship as to leadership in home, church, I school and community; (4) Fi , nancial need as demonstrated by the need to earn part of the cost of her education.
