The name of the book was “Across the Bridge”. The Home Demonstration Club women entertained their hus bands with a dinner on Tues day night at Wards Community Building. The annual meeting of Soil Conservation District Supervis ors of Northeastern Area, will be held tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 o’clock in the Eden ton ar mory. The meeting will begin ''with .a dinner which will tie pre pared by the Cross RoadSjeCtenter y Hill Fire District. Chairmen are Garland Asbell and Mrs. E. N. Elliott. The annual Training Union “M” Night will be observed Monday night, December 5, at the Edenton Baptist Church at 7:30 P. M. The Home Demonstration Club Festival will be held December 6 at 7:30 P. M., at Chowan Com munity Building. Chowan Club is hostess. _ The Brotherhood of "Rocky Hock Church had charge of the morning worship service last Sunday. RA’s were recognized: invocation was given by Henry Bunch; Scripture and prayer by Murray Tynch, Sr.; brotherhood filled the choir; special music by Men’s Quartet; messages on “Being Thankful” were: Thank ful For Possessions, Frank Ev ans; Thankful For Abilities. Shackelford has been appointed Chairman of the Cho wan County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He suc ceeds Dr. Archie Walker, who has served in that capacity for two years. In accepting the chairmanship, Mr. Shackelford has announced that Chowan County’s quota in the 1960 fund raising campaign will be SI,BBO. He is at pres ent making an effort to secure a chairman for this drive. IN ECC GLEE CLUB The Men’s Glee Club of East Carolina College will appear in a program of songs over Sta tion WNCT-TV, Channel 9, Sun day, November 20, at 12:30 P. M. The 44-member vocal or ganization will be featured at that time on the weekly broad cast “Let’s Go To College,” spon sored by the college.
