of yarn annually with a market
value of 2V* million dollars. The
number of employees expanded
during this period from a mere
handful to approximately 200 to
day, with the mill working on
three shifts.
The original Mill Village con
sisted of ten 3-room, one 5-room,
one 6-room and one 7-room
dwellings; today the village has
grown to a total of 75 houses
with its own well attended
church, the First Christian
Church, the Rev. E. C. Alexan
der. minister.
The production of the Eden
ton Cotton Mills is distributed
as far west as Oregon, ias far
north as Maine and south to
Alabama. The yarn manufac
tured by Edenton Cotton 'Mills
is used in a variety of trades,
among which is the insulation
of wires and cables which are
used in automobiles; lace cur
tains, lace tablecloths, velours,
plushes, braids, tapestries, web
bings, Venetian blind tapes, au
tomobile trimmings, cravats for
