said that the Edenton film would i
be seen over 227 television sta-1
tions throughout the country j
the first year. Within several j
weeks, the film will be released
to 20 stations, many within the
viewing area of Edenton and
surrounding towns. John Gra
ham at the afternoon perform
ances and the Rev. George B.!
Holmes at the 5:45 show, made
direct appeals to the public for
contributions to complete pay
ing for the film, which was
sponsored by the James Iredell
Historical Association and the
local DAR chapter. Both men;
pointed out that the film time!
was extended by the sponsoring i
organizations in order to in-:
elude as much' of the wealth of
material on hand as possible.
Comments on the film were
without exception enthusiastic
and very complimentary. Many
commented on their amazement
at the beauty and continuity
of the film, and the way in
which the film covered so much
of such interest.
Such words as “marvelous,”
“exceptionally well-done”, “en
lightening and beautiful” were
heard.
Many out-of-town persons
were in Edenton for the premi
ere. In a group of men from
Norfolk was Noland Chandler,
general manager of the Chesa
peake Bay District Ferry Cbm
mission. Many other Virginia
visitors were here, as well as
guests from many other towns
in North Carolina.
The film is available for loan
to organizations and groups de
siring to show it for programs
from the Edenton Tea Party
Chapter, DAR. The chapter re
ports that requests are rapidly
coming in for the film, with sev
eral from towns in Western
North Carolina, through mana
gers of Chambers of Commerce,
and several from Virginia towns.
Bishop Alexander, president of
the Advertising Service Agency,
who handles advertising for the
Ocean Hiway Association, was
unable to attend the premiere
las planned, due to illness. Mr.
Alexander, in regretting his be
ing unable to attend, pointed out
that Edenton had taken a great
step forward in having the film
which he felt sure would pay
great dividends in a short while.
