The marriage of Miss Ellen
Ann Hobbs, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Gurnie C. Hobbs of Eden
ton and Charles Gerald
McLaughlin of Cherry Point, N.
C., took place Sunday at the
Edenton Baptist Church.
Given in marriage by her fa
ther, the bride wore a gown of
white satin styled along prin- 1
cess lines with fitted sleeves
and a scooped neckline, embroid
ered with seed pearls and se
quins. The fullness of panels in
the back lengthened to form a
cathedral train. Her veil was
of imported French illusion, fast-
ened to a crown of pearls. She
carried a Bible topped with two
j white orchids, stephanotis and
white roses.
Miss Judy McLaughlin of Eliz
abeth City, sister of the bride
groom, was maid of honor. Miss
. Carolyn Stallings and Miss Ida
Campen, both of Edenton, were
bridesmaids. All wore identical
, dresses of royal blue satin with
tight bodice and full skirt. They
earned red roses.
The bridegroom’s father was
best man, and the ushers were
Jack Bunch, Clinton Davis, Jack
Hardison and Errol Flynn, all
of Edenton.
Immediately following the
ceremony the bride’s parents en
tertained at a reception at the
Edenton Restaurant.
The bride is a student at John
A. Holmes High School of Eden
ton.. The bridegroom is a form
er graduate of John A. Holmes
High School and is now serving
in the U. S. Air Force at Shaw
Air Force Base in Sumter, S. C.

Weiner Roast Held By
Group At Center Hill
The Center Hill Community
Development Program held a
weiner roast Saturday night, De
cember 10, at the Center Hill
Community Building.
The community had a large
percentage present and there
were several visitors. Four-H
groups were invited and a large
number were present.
Mrs. Cameron Boyce, chairman
for 1961, gave the welcome. As
ter everyone had their fill of ;/■
weiners, Leon Evans gave a talk
on his trip to Chicago which was
very interesting and a challenge
to all 4-H boys and girls.
Slides of the year’s work and
progress were shown and Mrs.
Ememtt Jones, photographed,
gave a brief discussion on the
accomplishments of 1960.
A full slate of officers for
1961 will be elected at the Jan
uary meeting.
