Ricks, Jr., 1958 North Carolina Ppljo Mother of ■ the Year, has been named by I Mr. Miley as honorary chairman .of the local Mother’s March. Mrs. Ricks, a member of the Woman’s Club, had polio in 1956 and is now confined to a wheel chair. She received assistance by the local chapter ai the Na tional Foundation for medical care during the first year of the 'i disease. Director Miley asks the resi dents of Edenton to help pre vent crippling diseases by say ■,ing “YES” to the Mother’s : Marcher when she calls on the family on behalf of the 1961 New March of Dimes. Mr. Miley also announced that Mrs. Ricks has accepted an in vitation to appear on the East ern North Carolina telethon to be held Sunday at WITN-TV in Washington, N. C. BROWNIES MEET Brownie Troop No. 1 met at the Barker House Thursday, Jan uary 19, with their leader, Mrs. Robert Powell and assistant lead er, Mrs. R. W. Schuman.
