C., and Mrs. Hattie Hobbs of Edenton and Mr. and Mrs. Merriel Evans and Dean of Elizabeth City visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Edward Evans on Saturday. Lloyd Evans, Kay Bunch, Gene Harrell and Esther Layton visited the Azalea Gardens in Norfolk Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Willie Saunders is on the sick list; Mrs. Les Layton is still sick. Lynwood Bass is a patient in Chowan Hospital. Mrs. Nan Privott is shut-in of the week at Rocky Hock. Regional Brotherhood met at Ahoskie Monday evening at 6:30 o’clock with a supper meeting. Ronnie Toppin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Toppin, has been cho sen as delegate from Chowan High School to attend Boys’ State at State College this sum mer. Miss Becki Harrell, senior at Chowan High School, has won a scholarship to attend Campbell College next fall. Miss Esther Layton has won a scholarship to attend Chowan College next fall. Bobby Chappell of Chowan High School will represent Cho wan High at the Youth Fitness Conference on June 9-10 in Ra leigh. Jimmy Hare and Miss Shelby Jean Howell, were listed among the honor students at East Caro lina College. Zackie Harrell is on the State College baseball team. Mr. and Mrs. West Byrum, Jr., have an addition to their fami ly. Students home for the week end were: Betty Bunch, Kath ryn Tynch, Faye Ober, Janet Parrish, Joe Hollowell, Linda Copeland, Baker Hollowell, Ger ald Harrell. Mrs. Hawk Crummey was hos tess to a Stanly Party Friday night. The freshman class of Chowan High School sponsored a skating party at Elizabeth City’s Roller Land Thursday, April 20. The sophomore class of Cho wan High School is planning a fried chicken supper May 6 from 5:30 until 8 o’clock. The Chowan PHA held its an nual Mother-Daughter Tea on Wednesday, April 19, in the school auditorium. Chowan High School Bth grade class went on a tour to Raleigh April 14. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Evans and Mrs. Perry attended the Craftsman Fair in Elizabeth City Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. Hawk Crummey and family spent Sunday in Elizabeth City. Arnold Driver was home for the week-end. Mr. and 'Mrs. Claude Rogerson, Jr., visited relatives over the week-end. Visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Evans on Sun day were Mrs. Lillie Saunders, Mrs. Martha Peele, Mrs. Myrtle Peele, Mr. and Mrs. Carey Ev ans, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bond and Herman of Edenton. Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Harrell visited their parents over the week-end. Dr. Hardin Attends Assembly In Florida Dr. Richard Hardin returned home Sunday from Miami Beach, Fla., where he attended a meeting of more than 4,000 family doctors in the Miami Beach Convention Hall. Doc tors from every part of the country registered for the American Academy of General Practice 1961 Annual Scientific Assembly. The Academy, head quarters in Kansasa City, Mo., has more than 27,000 members and is the nation’s second larg est medical association. Dr. Hardin had an opportuni ty to hear 25 of the nation’s top medical authorities discuss new developments and progress in the fields of therapy and di agnosis. He saw 120 scientific and 200 technical exhibits that report research results and dis play new drugs, instruments and equipment.
