Willjam Albert Goodwin, 72,
died, at N. C. Memorial Hospital
at Chapel Hill Monday jtpght at
8 o’clock after an illness of six
weeks. He was a native of Per
quimahs County, hint "lived in
Chowan County 22 years. He
was a retired farmer of Par
adise section, and was ,a mem
ber of the Great Slope Baptist
Church in Perquimans County, j

Dies At Center Hill
\ Mrs. Mary Asbell Buneh, 94,
one of Chowan County’s oldest
citizens, died Monday afternoon
at 5:30 o’clock at her home in
the Center Hill section. She
had been in ill health for about
years.

the distinction of being the old
est member of the congrega
tion.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday afternoon at 2:30
o’clock at the Center Hill Bap
tist Church. The pastor, the
Rev. Henry Napier, officiated,
assisted by the Rev. Frank For
tescue, pastor of the Center Hill
Methodist Church. Burial was
in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tom Asbell,
Garland Asbell, Cameron Boyce,
Wilbur Privott, Woodrow Slade
and Joe Wiggins.
Hines Speaks At
Auxiliary Meeting
Richard Hines, superintendent
of the Edenton Electric & Water
Department, was the speaker at
the Chowan Hospital Auxiliary
meeting last week.
Mr. Hines presented a very
interesting and informative ad
dress on water and sewer im
provements as well as sewage
disposal. During his remarks he
discussed methods of financing
these installations and pointed
out the fairness of the assess
ment program which has been
adopted by Town Council,
