i—SECTION TWO PAGE SIX |Know Ye That the Lord Is God) I By TEBRY JONES j "Know ye that the Lord he is @od(; it is he that hath made us, apid not we ourselves; we are hiis people, and the sheep of his ifcsture.” Psalm 100:3. TThe psalmist tells the whole world to make a joyful noise t%*to the Lord. Are the people! 41 the United States doing this? ’ 4s God looks into our inner n|inds and hearts does He find gong of praise flowing from <sur lives, or is it woes and com plaints He hears. * Surely God hears very little praise from other lands such as Russia, China and Cuba. If we are truly a nation under God ak our allegiance plainly states, j then it is our place to cry out to the rest of the world “Go j KNOW YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY John T. Grooms, representative of the Social Security ; Administration, is in Edenton every Thursday at the North Carolina Employment Security Commission office in the Citizens Bank Building. ’Did you ever try to find someone in a crowd? Down at tire social security office they’re doing just this, except on a larger scale. of a change in the law, about one million people could get retirement insurance checks this year for the first tifcoe even though they are still working. The Social Security Administration knows who most od these people are, and they arte getting the benefits due them. But, there are still a few people Who are working but wpuld be able to get checks for sJbie months in the year under thjs change in the law if they would just go to a social securi ty office and file a claim. So that the Social Security Administration can find all of the one million people who are entitled to some benefits this year, Mr. John T. Grooms, Field Representative of the Norfolk, Virginia office, suggests that any Worker who is 65, come in and file his social security claim even though he is still work ing. Mr. Grooms estimates that many people in the Edenton area! are directly affected by the 1 change in the law and that these who have not filed may be losing payments they are en-i titled to. He says that people 1 who think they can’t get any re tirement insurance benefits be CIRCUSVALUES j Friday, June 2nd - Satin-day, June 3rd - Monday, June sthl childrens (’hildren’s Cotton CHILDRENS -d|k ,>OI ° TRAINING l>rAY j . We must stop fighting among ourselves, we must stop depending upon our selves, we need to support for eign 'missions and we need to pray without ceasing. As God looks down on the people of the United States does He see us doing these things; are we prais ing Him or ourselves? The whole world needs to stop and realize that the Lord is su preme. He is God and we are the sheep of His pasture. Both our leaders and we ourselves should look to Him for guid ance as we make our way down the rugged path of life. Is God leading you? ' oause they’re making more than $1,200 a year may be surprised to learn that they do have some social security dollars coming to them in 1961. The new retire ment rule allows workers to earn considerably more than sl,- 200 and still get some retire ment payments. The new law is explained in a new free pamphlet called :“If You Work While You Get Social Security Payments.” Mr. Grooms says that, upon request, the Norfolk office will be glad to mail copies to interested area residents, par ticularly those who are already 65 or who will reach 65 this year.
