On motion of Dallas Jethro, Jr, seconded by C. M. Evans and unanimously carried that the 1961-62 county budget be adopted; the rate is 1.32 plus .10 in the county for rural fire protection. On motion of C. J. Hollowell, seconded by J. Gilliam Wood, and unanimously carried, that W. P. “Spec” Jones be reap pointed County Tax Supervisor for a period of two years. The Chowan County Board of Education met with the Board of Commissioners for the pur pose of appointing a member to serve on the ABC Board. On motion of G. B. Potter, seconded by Dr. L. F. Ferguson and unanimously carried that R. F. Elliott, Sr, be reappointed to serve on Chowan County ABC Board for a term of three years. A revised jury list was re viewed by the Board of Com missioners and ordered placed in the jury box. On motion of C. M. Evans, seconded by C. J. Hollowell and unanimously carried that Cho wan County’s interest in real property formerly owned by Caroline Hurdle and Elbert Rid dick is excess to the county’s needs and therefore the County Attorney is authorized to sell the same in accordance with the law. Notice of intention to apply to the N. C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Board for a permit to sell beer on premises by Wil liam Jake Stallings (Jake’s Place) was approved and ordered filed. The following reports were ac cepted and ordered filed: No marriage licenses issued for quarter ending June 30, 1961; County Agent; Assistant County Agent; Home Economics Agent; Assistant Home Economics Agent; Negro County Agent; Negro Home Economics Agent; Eden ton Fire Dept.; County Veterans Service Officer; County Welfare Dept.; Sheriff.
