I—SECTION TWO
IS GOD WITH YOU?
By TERRY JONES
And I give unto them eternal
life; and they shall never per
ish, neither shall any man
phick them out of my hand.
—John 10:28.
Have you ever felt that God
has left you? When a person
feels this way he is like a little
child lost in a large city, there
are many faces but none will
suit him but one, his mother.
When a man feels he is without
God there are many ways to
turn but only one can bring
complete comfort and that is
peace with God.
Will God leave a person? I
believe He will for a while any
way. When a man turns his;
back on God then God may say.
“My Son, try it alone.” God
left Samson when the covenant
was broken between them. Je
sus cried out as he hung on the
cross, “my God, my God. why)
hast thou forsaken me?” ln ;
each incident with Jesus and]
Samson we should notice that
God came back to them.
In most cases it is not God i
that leaves us. but it is us that]
leave God. John 10:28 Christ |
says that no man can pluck

NOW'S THE TIME to save more truck
dollars on the more for your-doliar trucks I
Your truck dollars are worth a
whole lot more at your Chevrolet
dealer’s right now! First off, you
get a head start on saving because
summer's the saving season. Then,
with a harder working, easier
riding Chevy truck, you’re set to
save every mile you haul. And,
finally, at trade-in time, you can
expect an extra dividend because
of Chevy’s traditionally higher
resale value. What could be better?

to give you extra miles of hauling. With
Independent Front Suspension, Chevrolet
trucks keep going thousands of miles
longer because far less destructive jar
and shake are transmitted through the
truck. Chevy I.F.S. trucks work harder,
too, in areas where other trucks have to
be pampered. And, with Chevy’s wide
choice of thrifty 6 and hardy V 8 power,
you can tailor your truck exactly to your
job. So how can you miss—especially now
during the summer saving season?

I himself to Christ’s cause. Rath
-1 er, he used doubt to eliminate
weakness and uncertainty.
Thomas was an honest, earn-
I est man, desperately trying to
I find his way to a faith he could
t anchor his life upon. Such a
. faith he found up the stony
.! road of doubt.
r i We must admit, however, that
r' on the negative side, doubt can
, j be, and often is, evil. Doubt
j ; can be used as an excuse for
5 1 the worst form of idolatry—the
! worship of self. It can be used
> 1 as an excuse for the worst form
II of indecency—the indulgence of
; | self. It can be used as an ex-
I cuse for the worst form of cow
, ] ardice —the coddling of self. In
ti deed, a foreboding list of charges
! can be drawn upon against
doubt. But when we have fin
ished. one fact remains; To
doubt may be noble. Thomas’
j doubting proves that point.
Doubt is noble when it is used
as a guard against error. Such
was the use Thomas made of
doubt. No belief is proof against
error. Our limitations in per
ception, understanding and com
munication make this inevitable.
Further, we must admit that
belief encourages error until it
;is challenged and corrected by
doubt. An important function
of education —especially Chris
tian education—is certainly that
jof developing ability to discern
error, to separate rumor from
fact, the false from the true.
, This is the service we owe every
man. group or nation suffering
] from prejudice and slander.
I This is the service we owe every
' noble cause and high hope lest
jit be weakened or defeated by
j error. Thomas gives us, in his
| story, a clear and concise les
son to be learned; by honestly
facing doubts and seeking to re
solve them, we can grow spirit
-1 ually. The learning of such a
1 lesson is a high function of
i Christian education. It is a life
! long undertaking inviting us to
| give of our best.
