SECTION TWO By WILBORNE HARRELL The hardy, tough and cour ageous pioneer spirit of America is not dead. We still have with us the same courage that climbed into a Conestoga wagon and faced West, braved the un known, tackled the wilderness with almost bare hands, and fought off Indians and every variety of danger that could , ynceivably beset a pioneer. Jout today the same courage f climbs into a space capsule and rotkets out beyond the horizon to brave another unknown wil derness and face another land to conquer. Yes, the spirit of America still marches on, and the spirit of its hardy sons is still ready, with courage and faith, to answer the call of duty. And though the dangers and difficulties we face today are different in aspect, they are es sentially the same that con Sidestep “You said you’d give me a check for $25,000 when I married * WM^Jf 36f* T^A%M|R3ray/ft 4/fl jia r J ~\^m MAKE /" T'' N I rELL oy * MOTHER SHE A NOISE pE ( WHY? / Pi l-£ACD MAMA \ I CA?I BELIEVE WHAT LIKE I | SAY WE'D GET 1 H EVERYONE SAYS ABOUT 1 FROG, ) I ALOTOFMONEY I "V7< croakep. ,/>>) n >S > v Bill Perry THE j^^^ EP6MDA6LE^ BBMpn^Hawaww^ t GET THE NEW 1961 Butler System pgfi||g' M9.Ui.PAT.OM. 11 ■ —•■l| DRYING AND STORING [f- - Ip PEANUTS AND GRAIN |gj|ll!ll=sp STOR-N-DRY GRAIN SYSTEM New and outstanding features have been added to the most successful drying equipment developed for the Carolina-Virginia Area. I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh un to the Father, but by me." John 14:6. Have you ever committed a sin? Os course you have. Paul tells us that we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. If we have all sinned then what will this sin bring into our lives, what is the final fate of sinners? What better place to find the answer than God’s Word? Ezekiel 18:4 "The soul that sin neth, it shall die." Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death." James 1:15 "Sin, when it is fin ished bringeih forth death." Yes sin is going to bring us death, but this is not the physical death that we think of, but this “SLAVES TO SIN” By TERHY JONES ARTISTIC TYPE —No brush or pencil has touched this drawing. The creator, Mrs. Lucile Couturier, of Paris, France, made the landscape with only her typewriter. She uses varying pressures on the keys to achieve the Oriental* type result death the Holy Bible speaks of means the “ever be dying,” it means lost or separated from God forever in a place Christ called Hades or Hell. Now there are people around today that will tell you that a great God of love would not send us to such a terrible place, but I tell you those people are liars. Christ said false prophets would arise and surely these people are knocking on our doors every day. Now if we all have sinned, 1 and this sin is going to bring us eternal damnation then it looks like we arc all doomed. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of Clod. There is but one answer, we must have a way of escape. We must have a cure for this disease called sin that we all have. And praise God He provided that way of escape, He provided the cure- God’s plan of salvation. His di vine plan to save you and me from sin and its results after death. Let us again go to God’s Word to see God’s way of es cape from sin for us. Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith." Faith in what? Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 16:31 "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shah be saved." This belief means lo not only| believe on Christ but also to| trust and rely on Christ fully.! Acts 4:12 "There is no other ! name under Heaven given among i men, that we are saved." Whose! 1 name is it speaking of?—The] Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:161 "Fcr God so loved the world,! that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." } The way of eternal peace and | happiness with God is plain. We ! can’t buy our way into Heaven, we can’t study our way in, we can't even enter by good works I tor as Isaiah says our works or j good deeds are as filthy rags. (There is no need to become ; frightened about the sin in your j life. First you must realize that you are a sinner and that you cannot save yourself. Then ask God to have mercy on your soul by giving you the grace of His blessed son Jesus Christ. Then' rust Christ to save you from sin. when you have committed your life to Him then you will automatically be “born again.” Open your heart to Christ to day and receive His love and salvation. Note: In my column, “The Mark of Man" two weeks ago I made the mistake of stating that man broke the bones of Christ on the cross. John 19:44 records that the soldiers did not do this since Jesus was already dead. I hope this will be kindlv over looked by all. —Terry Jones.
