When, the j evidence before the material J senses yielded to spiritual sense, l the apostle declared that noth ing could alienate him from God, from the sweet sense and presence of Life and Truth.” It is falling in love with our own mistaken ideas that makes fcols and beggars of half man kind. —Edward Young. Indeed, as a noted Eng lish scholar has written earlier *tn this century, in accounting for the triumph of the Gospel in the Roman Empire, Christians “out-thought, out-lived and out died” the pagan world. Surely, then, the joy and peace in which Christians faced hostile world profoundly affected that world and gave reality to the Christian message, just as .it impressed Timothy. We note that Paul circumcised Timothy. Why should he have done this, when he had just fought at Jerusalem for the Gentiles’ right to enter the church without subscribing to the laws' of Judaism? (See Acts 15:1-21; Galatians 2:3). The ex planation lies in the fact that while Timothy’s mother was Jewish, his father was a Greek (another word for Gentile in those days). All this was known to the Jews among whom Paul would subsequently be working. Titus was not compelled to be circumcised (Galatians 2:3), but Continued on Page B—Section 2 I HAPPY HOME PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH HAROLD C. LEAKE. There is no courage without threat of battle. This life was meant to he 9 succession of goals . . . each the more inspiring because of the hazards along the way. And who among us, worth his salt, would want life any different. It is the uphill, the hazardous, course of courageous living that makes spiritual strength a must. You and I need the Church.
