Leary, Jr., and sons, Joe and Ned of Bay side, Va., spent the week-end with Mrs. Leary’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Conger. Return To Edenlon Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Chears and children have returned to Edenton, where Mr. Chears will resume his law practice. Visit In Virginia Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Elliott spent the week-end with Mr. j and Mrs. Clifford Overman at I Lee Hall, Va. O Sunday In Richmond Mr. and Mrs. Earl Goodwin spent Sunday in Richmond, Va., visiting Mr. and Mrs. S. N. Mor gan. Visiting Daughter Mrs. W. C- Moore left Satur day to visit her daughter and family in Arlington, Va. Visits In West Jefferson Dr. Richard Hardin spent the week-end at West Jefferson, N. C., visiting Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Hardin. Jacksonville Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Hoskins Bass, Jr., and children, Richard and Yvonne of Jacksonville, N- C-, were week-end guests of Mr. Bass’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Bass. On Bermuda Cruise Mrs. John Bond left this week, along with friends from New port News for a ten day cruise to Bermuda. Week-end In Raleigh Mr. and Mrs. Percy Smith and Miss Catherine Aman spent the week-end in Raleigh as the guests of Miss Maidred Morris. Beaufort Visitor Mrs. E. W. Downum of Beau fort is spending the week with Dr. and Mrs. A- F. Downum. In New York Dr. and Mrs. Ed Bond left Wednesday to spend several days in New York, after which they will attend a medical meeting in Boston, Mass. Guest of Mother Miss Frances Holton of Win- Ston-Salem, N. C., spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. David Holton. Attend Band Day Mrs. Artie Ange, Sanfra and Harla, Johnette Davenport, Mike Deßlois and Cisco O’Neal at tended the Band Day festivities at the University of North Caro lina Saturday. They returned home byway of Raleigh to spend some time at the State Fair. Visit At Scotland Neck Mr. and Mrs. Paul Partin and family spent the week-end in Scotland Neck visiting relatives. Recovering From Operation R. H. Tarkington, who under went an operation at Wilming ton, N. C., is expected to return to Edenton Thursday while con valescing. After the meeting a luncheon i will be held at the Virginia Dare < Hotel at which time awards will i be presented. The Elizabeth City Woman’s Club and Junior Club are hosts for the meeting. Fred Harrell New Marine Recruiter Staff Sergeant Gary K. Shu maker, area Marine Corps re cruiter, announces his reassign ment as NCO in charge of the l Marine recruiting office in Wytheville, Virginia. In his • place will be Corporal Fred Harrell, who has been recruit- ; : ing in Richmond for the past few months. Claiming Balti more as his home town, he is , the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred , Harrell of that city. He gradu-, ated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1957. Corporal Harrell has less than ] five years service in the Ma rine Corps and is one of the few Marine corporals on recruiting and the youngest in the area. Corporal Harrell will continue the Thursday schedule that was originated by Sergeant Shumak er and will be at the Post Of >iice in Edenton between 10:30 A. M., and noon and at Eliza* beth City Post, office from 1:00 P. M., to 3:CO P. M.
