VFW Auxiliary Will Observe Poppy Day Continued from Page 1, Section 1 president, explainedl “and we do appreciate this so much. These poppies were made by disabled veterans in the hospital wards and hobby rooms of our Vet erans Administration homes and hospitals all over the country. More than half of the total re ceipts will be used for local vet eran welfare work. The rest will go to the Disabled Veterans, National VFW Home for Orphans land Widows, and the cost of the poppies and supplies. We hope that each and every person will buy a Buddy poppy during our sale. Even if your contribution is small, it will mean a great deal.” Mayor John Mitchener has is sued a proclamation in which he urges all patriotic citizens to wear a Buddy Poppy as mute evidence of gratitude to the men of this county who have risked their lives in defense of freedom which is continued to be enjoyed by American citizens. Marines Celebrating 1 187th Anniversary On November 10th, Marines throughout the world will cele brate the 187th anniversary of the founding of their Corps. For 187 years U- S- Marines have proven their motto “Sem per Fidelis” (Always Faithful) is exemplary of their loyalty to our Nation and to their Corps.
