From Sweden comes word that things can be come confused with three Berg mans getting together. They’re not related, though. Ingrid Bergman has signed to star for Swedish director Ingmar Berg man -in, a screen adaptation of a book by Hilmar Bergman. Clear? Marc Connelly, who portrays a professor in the movie “Tall Story,” actually is a professor— a full professor in the drama department at Yale University. First big-time star to do the twist in a movie? Kirk Doug las in “2 Weeks In Another Town.” Don Megowen, starring in “Creation of the Humanoids”, is one of Hollywood’s tallest actors, standing at 6’ 6”. Who helped Clint Walker to stardom? Van Johnson. Other notes: The recent case of the young Idaho airman who was sentenced to die for a mur der he didn’t commit is further good argument against continu ation of capital punishment. The real killer finally confessed. A disc jockey in Winnipeg, Cana da, sent a copy of Rex Allen’s record, “Don’t Go Near The In dians,” to Red China dictator, Mao Tse Tung. We do not have a proof of eter-1 nal life, as we have proof for the answer to a problem in geometry. But we do have an adequate ground for our faith. The New Testament has one lofty theme upon which every thing else stands—that of the Resurrection of Christ. The newness of life in which we walk today is dependent upon the Christ who rose from the dead. It is through the risen Christ that we are “dead to Kin” and “alive to God.” The assurance that the eternal qual ity of life which we enjoy here will continue after death comes from the central reality of the Easter story. The frustrated, despairing disciples were sud denly filled with a glad expect ancy and a new hope when they realized that their Lord was not dead, but alive. It was i,n this Resurrection experience that the church was bom. The ground of our hope for life af ter death is the Resurrection and our Lord's promise, “Be cause I live, you will live also.” (John 14:19). The New Testament is clear th.at eternal life can begin here and now. We do not need to wait for the future to enter into the new life of Christ. And it is by this ex perience we enter into eternal life at Jhe present moment. Eternal life as a present pos sibility offers a very real chal lenge to us in the midst of our living. Eternal life is a chal lenge to high living and unsel fish service. It expects the tri umph of God in a redeemed so ciety as his Kingdom comes upon the earth and in his final victory beyond teime and space.
