Down With Christinas 'By TERRY JONES unto you is born this day iih the city 0* David a Saviour, twhich is Christ the Lord.'' .—(Luke 2:11). -ft is told that a man from a fforeign country arrived Tn one of our large cities for his first visit in the United States. It just so happened that the time he arrived was the Christmas season. He observed all the bright lights; the parades; the wild parties; the Christmas dances and the whir of the add- Bnachines. His reply was, here is just like tjtgan festivals of toy. na v I am not saying we should take the laughiejvqut of Christmas, nor the spirit of giv ing gifts, nor the get togethers, nor the simple holiday parties. I’m all for having Santa pay a visit and having a delightful | time. Gs course I also believe Ichristmas should be a time for | 20 A EARS AGO £ Continued from Page 1, Section l ‘had ‘been violated. By this I mean taking Christ out oi Christmas, not by writing Xma.-, on the window, but by truly ■making Christmas a pagan festi val. Christmas becomes a pa gan festival when people have to celebrate by throwing wild parties, staying out all night, get ting drunk and everything else under the sun. It really takes the cake when people who live perfectly sane lives all year sud denly go nuts when the time comes to celebrate the birth of the Lord. It’s a pitiful situation when we say, “Thank you God for your Son”, by making our selves giddy and actually mock ing His image. I hope you and your family will thank God for Christ by celebrating CHRIST mas instead of Xitaas. My wife and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Hapjiy New Year.
