' Ward in the Ryland Scommunity recently made appli cation for planning assistance in developing a complete soil and waiter conservation plan for his farm. 'Mr. Ward will be fur nished a conservation plan and land capability map to use in •planning. He will determine the entire needs of the farm such as improved cropping system, cover cropping, crop residue use, open ditch and tile drainage and woodland improvement. A plan will then be developed to meet these needs in a systematic man ner. Mr. Ward will have a guide to go by in making the improve ments he would like to over the next few years. Mrs. Dicip Nixon Dies After Lesngthy Illness ; Mrs. Dicie P. Nixon, 72, died Monday monxing at 11:34 o’clock at her 'home in the Rocky Hock section following a long illness. She was a 'native of Chowan County and ai lifelong resident of the Rocky Hock community. She was the widow of John T. Nixon and the daughter of the late Wright and Jennie B. Perry. Surviving are one son, George Nixon of Edenton; six daugh ters, Mrs. Isaac Harold, Mrs. J. D. Peele and Mrs. Frank Hughes, all 'of Edenton, Mrs. Bennie Wil kins and Mrs. E. R. Dilday of Norfolk and Mrs. Wilbert Hare of Tyner; two brothers, E. B. Perry of Norfolk and Robert J. Bunch, Joe Webb, Jr., and Fahey held their regular meeting in the work unit office in Edenton Wednesday night, July 15 at 8 o’clock. The supervisors hold regular meetings to plan the dis trict activities to carry out in the soil and water conservation dis trict program. Plans were made 1 for conducting the woodland clinic in the early fall for the vocational agriculture students in the district. Applications were also considered for technical as sistance.
