Hi! May I visit with you a]
. tew minutes today? ‘f I discov- j
ered something for myself this
week 'which, may help ydu, too,
asd that’s one reason I’d like to
take a ten minute break and|
Visit. One day recently, after i
having had a very busy moral-1
Ini at home, I found myself
feeling headachy and ver>’|
weary and a little discouraged.
Fortunately, I had promised to
run an errand for a friend,
which made me go out for a
short time. When I returned I
had lost my headache and weary
feeling. My whole outlook had
thanged and I was ready to
work again. I know that most
jfyomen have these moments—so,
■if. you do, put on your coat, take
a short walk around the block,'
or'' visit a nearby f..iend or" 1
neighbor—it helps!
-,? ’ !
Graciousness and charm, add
ed to'the beauty of Miss North
Carolina, w.iio made her appeal-,
ance in our Christmas parade 1
last week. This loyely young
lady, despite being busy and
quite popular, takes time to
show her appreciation and thanks
to everyone. Which only goes]
to prove that loveliness comes 1
from the heart.
If you missed the pfcgram put
on here in" Edenton by the Albe
marle Choral Society this past
Sunday, by all means try to go
to Elizabeth City this' coming
Sunday to hear a repeat per
formance. This music was a
rare treat for most of us. Then,'
too, it gave the realization of
talent potential, which perhaps
would not have been known
without the opportunity of be
longing to the Choral Society.
Last year 1 gave the recipe
i for my favorite orange bread

, White skin from,. i.th» inside.
Combine one cup sdjjpa|:, *2 cm
1 water With orange peel and cook
lunul , mixture is thick and
Syrupy. When this has cooled,
grind it in a food chopper. Now
W the hread itself:

% cup sugar. Add two eggs,
thoroughly. Sift together
4 cups flour, 1 tsp. salt, 3 tsp.
baking powder and add to cream

very stiff. Next add ground or
ange peel and nuts if desired.
Note: Chopped, reel and green
marschino cherries may lie added

When fashion’s luxurious furs
are properly perfumed, they add
one of the most exciting dlmeo-?
]sions to a woman’s total groom
ing. However, neyer spray' or,
] sprinkle perfume on the fur it
self. . Instead place a piece of
cotton, saturated with your fav
-1 orite scent in the pocket of your
! coat, in the lining or in the
cuff of the sleeve. Perfume and
; furs are as old as time. Learn
to combine them properly and
1 reap the flattering comments.
] For quickie desserts, keep some
' miniature cream puff shells on
I hand. Fill with your favorite
custard, ice cream or just Whip
ped cream. Meringues can be
made ahead of time and used
’ with fruits, custards and cream
1 also.

Misconstrued
After much pleading Haynes
had managed to “teach.” his
friend for a loan.
When it was .afely in his pos
session, he said:
‘You are yery kind to lend
me this pound. I feel that I can
never repay you.”
His friend stared hard at him.
“Why the dickens didn’t you
say that at first?" he exclaimed.
