Food specialists of the U. S. De

Egg. Cheese, Potato Scallop
1 cup thin white sauce
1 tablespoon minced parsley
, 2 or 3 medium-size cooked
potatoes, sliced
1 cup shredded cheese
4 to 6 hard-cooked eggs,
sliced
Salt and pepper
Soft breadcrumbs
Combine white sauce and pars

potatoes, cheese, and eggs in a

each layer lightly with salt and

with breadcrumbs.
Bake at 357 deg. F. (moderate

Small Plants
If you intend to buy a few
potted petunias—or other flow
ers—for transplanting in your
garden, select the plants care
fully. Choose small rather than
large ones, urges the U. S. De
partment of Agriculture.
The larger, sometimes already
flowering plants may look stur
dier—but dofi‘t let them tempt
you. They won’t be able to
stand the shock of transplanting
as well as smaller plants.
Plant the petunias as soon as
you get them home. Use a knife
] blade to carefully lift the seed
! lings from the planting contain
j er. Handle them as little as
i possible. And try not to pinch
them.
Petunias, snapdragons, and
| many other annuals—such as ee
losia, salvia, and ageratum—
bloom from late spring until
they are killed by frost. ;
