ern Baptist Convention. The
discussion will be designed to
help the churches of the area
to come to a full realization
of their stewardship po
tential.
All pastors, deacons, mem
bers of finance committees,
treasurers and organizational
leaders of the churches oi
the Chowan Baptist Associa
tion are encouraged to attend
these workshops.

Moscow passed along the in
formation that the hottesi
black market item in the
USSR today is the BIBLE.
One emigrant said that he
was offered a COW in ex
change for his Russian
language Bible, and another
time was offered an entire
month’s wages for it.
Rissho Kosei Kai, one of
the biggest of Japan’s “new
religions” has dedicated a
new temple in Tokyo for the
use of its 2.5 million mem
bers. The seven-story struc
ture, largest building for re
ligious use in the Orient, has
20,000 visitors a day and can
accommodate 30,000 persons.
The beliefs of this “relig
ion” center on Buddhist doc
trines as interpreted by the
13th century Jauanese teach
er Nichiren Shonin.
At the Same time this is
happening, copies of the
Bible ar.d the sutra have
been exchanged by the Ja
pan Bible Society and All
Japan Buddhist Association.
In addition to the special
presentation copies, about
2,000 Bibles donated by the
Danish Bible Society were
given to the Japan Bible So
ciety for distribution to
Buddhist priests throughout
Japan.
