The seven member board would then be elected to take office in January, 1971. The county board, while not going on record, general ly expressed their disapprov al to school trips to New York and Washington. The general feeling was that these trips were of no edu cational valpe. “I would like to see our schools stick to education," one member stated. His complaint contends the firm has expended large, sums of money, in develop ment of the land leased and in reliance with the lease agreement has contracted and intends to contract in the future' for further de velopment of the land. “If the lease is cancelled,” the complaint states, “Unit ed States Lumber Company will be irreparably damaged by reasons of the large in vestment which it has made in improvements on the property and proposed fu ture development.” The town says several prospects are in- sight, some ready to lease certain por tions of the property, if they can cancel the existing lease. Town, County Holidays Holidays for town and county employees have' been established for the remainder ‘of 1965 by officials of the governing bodies.' ’ All city and county offices will be closed December 23, 24, 25 and 2.7 for Christmas.
