Evans, the following reso lution was unanimously adopted: That the action of the Chowan County ABC Board taken at a special meeting of said Board held on June 9, 1966, providing that the employees of the Chowan County ABC store become members of the North Caro lina Employees’ Retirement System be and the same is hereby approved and rati fied. A letter was read by the chairman from Norman L. Brinkley, president of the Chowan branch of NAACP, requesting the Commission ers to withhold funds allo cated for Brown-Carver Li brary and Shepard - Pruden Memorial Library until there is one library in Chowan County to serve all the citi zens without regard to race, creed or color. The NAACP asked that the Brown- Carver Library be closed im mediately. The Commission ers agreed there was noth- I ir.g they cart do in this mat ter as all appropriations go to the Pettigrew Regional Library.
