Members returning from last year are: Patricia Ashley, Martha Britton, Linda Byrum, Helen Jerni gan, Beth Moore, Sue Pow ell, Janet Sadler, Debra Waff and Joanne Walton. New members are: Harla Ange, Pansy Austin, Sarah Belch, Shelly Etheridge, Debbie Hollowell and Mary Ellen Wheeler. The girls are being coached by Miss Caroline Pond. We wish Slade Praised By Professor GREENVILLE Clenton Slade of Edenton made a perfect score on his third test in Physics at East Ca rolina University here re cently. Such an achieve ment is very rare, accord ing to Professor R. M. Helms. Helms reports that the last 100 achieved in his classes was in the spring of 1966. The last such perfect test 'paper in elec tricity and magnetism was in the spring of 1962. The professor has written the student’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Slade, Sr., Route 1 ,Edenton, in which he further illustrates the achievement. Slade made the highest grade (90) of the class of 10 students on the second test in this sub ject, and was tied with an other student for highest grade (95) on the first test. Their guest speaker was Miss Minnie Hollowell who spoke to the group about how much she got out of teaching and the amount of dedication one must have to go into the teaching profession. Every one thorougly enjoyed Miss Hollowell’s informative talk. Though Miss Hollowell has retired, she is still very active and is planning a trip to New Orleans and Mexico very soon. We hope she has a marvelous time. The Girls’ Monogram Club gave a victory party for the football team Wed nesday night in the cafe teria. The girls as well as the whole town are very proud of the Edenton Aces. Speaking of the mighty Homecoming Slated Sunday Rev. W. Franklin Cale of South Boston, Va., will speak at the Homecoming Day services at Center Hill Baptist Church at Tyner on Sunday. Rev. David L. Harris, pastor, said the service will begin at 10:30 o’clock. Mr. Cale is a former pastor of the church. The renovated church auditorium will be dedicat ed, special music will be provided and lunch will be served.
