Chowan High News By MATTHEW GARRETT Chowan’s Student Coun cil pet Friday to plan an assett*bly program for the stUdent body to be held tomorrow. A constitution a,. be presented to the ente for a vote. The Ciompi String Quar tet of Duke University per-' folrned in the Ernest A. Swain Elementary School auditorium Monday. Cho wan High School was privileged to attend the concert. 'Performed by the quar tet were * excerpts from Mozart Quartet in Eb Ma jor; Beethbven Quartet, Opus 18; Ravel Quartet in F Major, Walter Piston Juartetl The program proved to be both interest ing and entertaining. Many hours of practice have gone into preparing fpr a Christmas cantata to be; presented by the Glee Club Sunday, December 10 at; 4 P. M. in the Chowan High School auditorium. Chowan’s PTA float won first place when it was presented in the annual Christmas parade in Eden ton Monday afternoon. Chowan’s Bulldogs play the Camden Rebels tomor row night in the Chowan gymnasium. Beginning at 6 o’clock will be the JV game. The varsity girls’ game starts at 7:30 and the varsity boys follow. New officers were elected and other business transacted at the annual meeting of the local amateur group. The four-year-old little theater has contributed greatly to the cultural development of this area. Edenton Police Learn First Aid Members of Edenton Po lice Department have suc cessfully completed a first aid course, according to Chief J. D. Parrish. The 12-hour course in basic first aid methods was taught by Murray Ashley, director of Civil Defense. Chief Parrish said tech niques learned in this course will enable mem bers of the department to render better service at times of emergencies.
