that Willie Edward Charl
ton, .son of James E.
Charlton, 111 East Carteret
Street, enlisted in the U. S.
Air Force today. He will
receive basic training at
Lackland' AFB, Texas.
He is a graduate of St.
Emma High School.
Basic training, said Sgt.
Short, who maintains an
office at Ahoskie every
Friday from 10.30 A. M. to
2:30 P. M., will be follow
ed by formal technical
training school or a direct
duty assignment. Follow
ing the training phase, he
will be eligible for service
overseas and throughout
the United States.
