W. J. Goodwill
Taken In Death
William Joseph ‘Goodwin,
Route 2, Edenton, died at
his home Sunday. He was
82.
Mr. Goodwin, a retired
farmer, was a native of
Chowan County. He was
a son of the late Jasper S.
and Nannie Simpson Good
win. He was married to:
Mrs. Jennie Parker Good
win, who preceded him in
death,
Surviving are two sons:
Rupert H. Goodwin of
Elizabeth City and W. P.
Goodwin of Edenton; one
daughter, Mrs. W. H. Wells
of Edenton; one sister, Mrs.
Lewis Goodwin of Cedar
Island; eight grandchildren i
and three great grandchild
ren.
He was a member of
Yeopim Baptist Church
Graveside services were
held at 11 A M. Tuesday
at Beaver Hill Cemetery
with Rev. Rick Brewer in
charge.

ANCHOR IN DISPLAY—This old iron ship's anchor
was found at the bottom of Edenton Bay by Madison
Phillips. Jr., and has been offered for use to Historic
Edenton, Inc., at the Barker House Museum to open in
June. One of the displays will center around boats,
boat building, and the fishing industry in Chowan
County end any related items are needed by the Arti
facts Committee. Items may be given or loaned to the
museum. Anyone having any articles that reflect the
history of Chowan County ere asked to contact Mrs.
Fred Drane, the chairman, at 432-4193.
