Checking Tobacco Cards
After Each Sale
Producers are warned to
(heck the entries on to
bacco sales card after each
sale to be sure entries have
been made correctly. There
is an easy way to check
these entries. Just sub
tract the last entry from
the figures above it and
the results should equal
the amount shown on the
warehouse bill of sale. If
it does not, there is an er
ror. If errors are found on
the card, bring the card
and all bills of sale to the
county office for correction.

For Tobacco
Growers selling untied
tobacco are reminded that
it will be necessary to pur
chase a sufficient number
of 96-inch x 96-inch stand
ardized sheets for their de
livery of tobacco to the
warehouse. The use of the
standardized sheets will
improve the display of un
tied tobacco and handling.
Also, the sheets will elim
inate damage caused from
dumping, and reduce
weight losses. Further steps
are taken each year to pro
vide and insure a better
organized tobacco program.
Committee Elections
Committee elections will
be held by mail again this
year. The ballots will be
mailed on September 6.
The slate of nominees
will be completed by the
present community com
mittees; A person may be
nominated by petition. The
petition should be signed
by six eligible voters and
should be filed in the
county office by August 22.
The Chowan County ASC
Committee has determined
that there would be no
change in community boun
daries for 1968.
Commodity Loans
Available
Commodity loans will be
available for the 1968 crop
of corn and soybeans. The
loan rate has not been an
nounced as of this date. A
loan may be made on both
farm stored and warehouse
stored commodities. For a
loan to be made on com,
the com must have been
produced on a farm that
participated in the 1968
feed grain program. There
are no program require
ments in obtaining a loan
on soybeans.
