Miss Peggy Davis returned home with them and spent several days here. Mrs. J. W. White, Mr. and Mrs. William White, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas White and daughters, Lisa and Susan, were the sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gene White and children of Plymouth Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin White and son, Billy Mar tin, and daughter, Peggy, of Baltimore, Md., visited their aunt, Mrs. Maude Foxwell, on Thursday. They were enroute to Fort Bragg to visit their son, Robert, who is finishing his basic training there, af ter which he will go to Fort Lee for further train ing and schooling in stock control and accounting. An association evangelis Joe Mitchener Earns Master’s NEW ORLEANS, La.— Joseph P. Mitchener of Edenton, N. C., received a Master of Science degree here Saturday during the annual summer graduation exercises of Tulane Univer sity. The degree was con ferred by Dr. David R. Deener, provost of the uni versity and dean of the Graduate School. Boy Scout News Edenton Boy Scout Troop 156 had its regular meet ing August 19 at 7 P. M. Michael Hall, senior pa trol leader, called the meeting to order after the opening ceremonies by Panther Patrol. The min utes of the previous meet ing were read and the troop proceeded to talk about the camping trip. After discussion, it was moved and seconded that the Scouts go the weekend of the 24th-25th and to leave at 8 o’clock Satur day morning. Michael Hall adjourned the meeting and the troop went outside to view the project this week—first class cooking. After this, Michael Hall dismissed the Scouts to go home. WEST 1969 ASC Committee Election* Chowan farmers will vote the second week in Sep tember to select the ASC community committeemen to serve them for the 1969 committee year. They will take office on October 1, 1968, and will serve through September 30, 1969. These committeemen are responsible for the admin istration of th various ASCS programs in their community. The programs include the production ad justment, price support and conservation programs. They also serve as dele gates to the county con vention for the purpose of electing the county ASC committee. This year’s election will be held by mail. Ballots will be mailed to all elig ible voters by September 6. These ballots must be mailed or returned to the ASCS office by September 16. The ballots will be publicly tabulated on Sep tember 20. The farmer committee system of administration of farm programs has been in effect since 1933. From 1933 until 1938, committee men were appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture. Since 1938, these commit teemen have been elected by their fellow farmers.
