Everett Jordan WASHINGTON—The gun control question has been without doubt one of the most controversial con : fronting this session cf Congress, and one to which I have given more thought and study, because of the basic issues involved, than to almost any other single matter since coming to Washington. A partial solution to the problem was written into the Safe Streets Act earlier this year in a section tightening regulations on the sale of pistols and handguns. Some subsequent events prompted proposals for broader - based restrictions on firearms, which have now become part of the bill drafted by the Sen ate Judiciary Committee and approved by the Sen ate.
