LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor: I have just recently learned that LTC Charles Sarkiss, an officer in our branch, assisted in saving some people whose boat capsized on Albemarle Sound in the afternoon of September 8. From the fa. miliarity I have been able to acquire concerning the incident, it appears that his selfless action of jumping from the bridge along with James Roy Manning of Plymouth, is deserving of some recognition in the form of a medal suitable for such heroism. The highway patrolman who made a report of the incident has given me the names and address of those who were saved. He did not have, however, the names of any independent witnesses. I shall be very much obliged if you will favor me by running a< short no tice in your pgper asking that those who have first hand knowledge of the in cident write to me at the address below. If any men tion of the event appeared in The Herald, I surely will appreciate being fur nished with such copy as well. Sincerely, JOSEPH L. FANT, Lieut. Col.
