G. GL Woolard Taken In Death WILLIAMSTON Gar land G. Woolard, local businessman and civic leader, died Saturday morning in Bertie County Hospital. He was 63. Mr. Woolard was the lather of John H. Woolard of Edenton. A native of Pitt Coun ty, he was a son of John Hyman and Mrs. Louise Chauncey Woolard and the husband of Mrs. Inez Van Dyle Woolard. He was a deacon of First Christian Church, a charter member of Wil liamston Kiwanis Club and a furniture dealer. Besides his wife, he is survived by two son#, Gil bert G. Woolard of Cam den, S. C. t and John H. Woolard of Edenton; a brother, William J. Wool ard of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Lucile Windley of Wil liamston, Mrs. Joseph Gaston of Greenville, and Mrs. William Shreve of Falls Church, Va., and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday in First Christian Church with Rev. Claude McDonald in charge. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Farmers Advised About Insurance Policyholders with the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation holding con tracts on cotton, peanuts, soybeans and corn in 1968 will have until December 31 to give signed and writ ten notice to discontinue such contracts for 1969 or the policies will be con tinued for next year, ac cording to Julian Mann, state director for FCIC. The FCIC has the same privilege of discontinuance except that contracts will be terminated for non-pay ment of 1968 premiums. It matters not how long you live, but how well. —Publilius Syrus. ITT BE SURE WITH PURE || Death Claims Mrs. Griffin Mrs. Louise Griffin, 88, widow of Charles B. Grif fin, Sr., died December 19 at her home near Lewis ton. Funeral services were held Friday at Grace Episcopal Church, Wood ville, by Rev. Fred Drane of Edenton. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Griffin attended Saint Mary’s College, Ra leigh, and was a life-long resident of the Woodville community. Survivors are C. B. Griffin, Jr., and Burgess U. Griffin of Lewiston; (Mary Bond) Mrs. H. C. Jackson of Edenton, seven grand children and one great grandchild. 4-H’ers Meet At Center Hill Center Hill 4-H Club was entertained last Mon day night by their 4-H leaders at the Center Hill Community Building. The community building was beautifully decorated by Dennis Monds and Robin Jordan. There were 40 present, leaders, 4- H’ers and their guests. The 4-H leaders prepared and served a Christmas dinner with all the trim mings to those present. After the dinner Mrs. White from the extension office showed a Christmas film and led the group in Christmas games. In lieu of exchanging gifts, each 4-H’er was asked to bring a pair of socks for the sock tree. These socks are to be sent to Caswell Training Center for “Op eration Santa Claus” to help provide a better Christmas for those less fortunate. Vickie Goodwin, vice president of the club, pre sented Mrs. Wilbur Jor dan, Mrs. Sidney Bulls and Mrs. E. P. Jones silver trays in appreciation of their services as 4-H lead ers.
